A Pella woman is facing multiple charges after an incident at a home in Pella early this morning. Twenty-seven year old Iris Meyers is facing charges of 1st degree Arson, a class B felony, domestic abuse assault, and assault on a peace officer. Pella Police responded to a call at a home on Columbus Street just before 5 a.m. Authorities say they found Meyers in the basement upon arrival. When officers attempted to gain access to the basement, Meyers threw broken glass at the officers and attempted to strike them with a broom handle. Meyers then barricaded herself in the basement, and proceeded to light a fire causing damage to a wall. Officers forced entry into the basement, extinguished the fire and apprehended Meyers. Pella Fire, Pella Ambulance, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
