Rural History Buffs of Marion County Iowa

The Rural History Buffs of Marion County are offering a tour of the southeastern part of the county.

The tour will feature visits to several coal mines, old school houses, and an 1878 iron bridge to Harvey Islands with informational stories about each. There will also be lunch at a local eatery and an afternoon coffee and dessert stop at a stately farm on Old Highway 92.

Many of the sites will feature signs that were funded by a grant from the Marion County Community Foundation.

The event will take place Monday beginning at 9am and costs $60 per person. Call Lillie Brandon at 641-820-0177 for more information.
