Beggar’s Night is less than a week away and area law enforcement wants everyone to have a safe holiday.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says some ways to keep kids safe while they trick or treat are to have them wear face paint instead of masks that could impede their vision, where bright colors so they can be easily seen by drivers, have children only go to homes where they know the person, and check all candy before it’s eaten.

Losada adds residents need to also make sure to let trick or treaters know if they’re participating by having their porch lights on indicating they’re giving away candy for the event.

Knoxville, Pella, Melcher-Dallas, and Bussey will hold their Beggar’s Night on Thursday, October 30th, from 6pm to 8pm. Monroe, Sully, and New Sharon will have their Beggar’s Night from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, October 31st.
