It started so well for the Central College football team Saturday against Wartburg, and spiraled out of control equally as fast, as the Dutch dropped their homecoming game 35-14. Trevor Castle and George Wares had the call live on 92.1 KRLS as the Dutch sprinted out of the gate. Unfortunately for Dutch Nation, the Knights scored the next 35 points before Eiseler hit Sam Markham on a 16-yard scoring strike midway through the third quarter. The Dutch drove deep into Wartburg territory twice in the fourth quarter, but negative plays cost them a chance at points, and they never got any closer than the final 21 point margin. The loss drops Central to 2-2 on the season, and they start Iowa Conference play 0-1. Up next is a trip to Decorah to take on Luther, a surprise 28-14 winner over Dubuque on Saturday. You can hear the Central / Luther game at 1:00 next Saturday afternoon on KRLS, and tune in this Monday night for a recap of the Wartburg game and a preview of next Saturday when Dutch Coach Jeff McMartin joins us live at Applebee’s at 7:00.
