Athletics at Central College had an outstanding weekend thanks in part to the Dutch women’s soccer team’s first ever victory over Dubuque in program history, 1 – 0 on Saturday. Freshman Abby Hillmer came through with just over ten minutes to play in the second half with an assist from Jackie Bell. Central had been 0 – 9 – 3 all-time against the Spartans until Saturday happened. The Dutch improve to 6 – 4 – 3 overall on the season and are now 2 – 1 – 1 in conference play. They’ll have to hold onto that momentum for awhile until their next match at home on October 18 against Buena Vista.
