Surviving the second round of the Class 2A regional volleyball tournament even with a key injury, Pella Christian hits the road to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont tonight for a semifinal match-up with the Rockets. These two teams met in the quarterfinals last year at the same venue, and Eddyville swept the Eagles in three straight sets. Pella Christian will be without Andrea Horstman, the team’s leader in kills and second-best server in terms of aces. Horstman tore her ACL in Tuesday night’s win over Des Moines Christian. One thing Pella Christian will still have a lot of, though, is size, and Coach Cindy Nikkel says they’ll need to use it against a dangerous hitting Rockets squad. Tonight’s game inside of the Rockets gym is set to begin at seven.
