Pella Christian’s volleyball team tries to rebound after their first conference loss of 2014 when they host Grinnell tonight for their head-to-head finale of the regular season. The Tigers began the season 12 – 9 and even earned a first round bye in the Class 4A regional tournament, but have lost six of their previous eight matches and are 1 – 4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Eagles have been the exact opposite; winners of 13 of their last 15, but suffered a setback on their way to a conference title with a five-set loss to Dallas Center – Grimes on Monday. One key to Pella Christian’s success has been their serving, which has come on strong as of late, particularly from Alyssa Starkey. Coach Cindy Nikkel says Starkey has made a few adjustments that have benefited the team. The varsity match tonight in Pella is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
