Fire severely damages a residential home in Knoxville.
Knoxville Fire and Rescue was called to the home on E. Douglas St. for a fire in a closet just after midnight Wednesday. Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell said the fire had extended from the closet to the living room by the time they arrived. Fire crews were able to knock down the fire quickly, however the home suffered extensive damage.
No injuries were reported. One person who was home at the time of the fire was able to get out safely.
Mitchell said the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigator was on scene to determine what caused the fire.
Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Marion County Emergency Management all responded to the call.
