Those who have suffered from congestive heart failure have new options for treatment through Medicare and Medicaid.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services now allow payment for cardiac rehabilitation for congestive heart failure patients. Cardiac rehab involves a monitored exercise program, instruction and counseling by a team of nurses, a pharmacist, a dietitian, a chaplain and doctors that helps patients manage risk factors involved in living a healthy lifestyle. Director of Cardiac Services at Pella Regional Karla Berg says patients who may qualify should contact their doctor because of requirements associated with entering the rehab program. We have more about the new options on Let’s Talk Pella.
