Though they didn’t take an entire team to state, the PCM boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will still be represented tomorrow in Fort Dodge in the Class 2A meet. Last year, it was only Rachel Stafford donning the Mustangs’ cross country uniform; tomorrow, both Rachel Peter and Blaise Winegardner will be looking to outrun the competition and find the medal stand. Coach Eric Karr says at this point of the year, there is a little bit of work to physically get ready for state, but most of the training now is to mentally prepare his runners in key spots on the course to maximize their potential, even before the starter’s pistol goes off. The 2A girls’ meet at Fort Dodge will start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with the boys to follow at 1:30.
