What started as a battle between two like-teams on the field, ended in a Central rout, as the Dutch toppled Coe on Saturday, 45 – 21, for their third straight win. Central scored on their first two possessions, before Coe took advantage of two Dutch turnovers to take a 14 – 10 lead in the second period. However, turnabout being fair play, Central intercepted a pass late in the first half and drove down the field to score and re-take the lead, 17 – 14. After trading touchdowns to begin the second half, the Dutch found the end zone three straight times, which was highlighted by Jacob Edleman’s fourth interception in the last two games. Josh Osborn topped the 100 yard mark for the eighth straight game, ending with 112 yards, and Aaron Eiseler went 17-for-28 passing for 251 yards, three touchdowns and a pick. Central improves to 5 – 2 overall and they will come back home next Saturday to take on rival Simpson in a “Red Out Day,” where fans are encouraged to wear red apparel to show their Central spirit. Make sure to tune in to the Central College Radio Coaches Corner on Monday night on 92.1 KRLS to hear Coach Jeff McMartin’s thoughts about the game with the Kohawks and a sneak peak to the match-up against the Storm.
