A back-and-forth game eventually teetered Central’s way in a 32 – 25 victory for the Dutch football squad on Saturday over Buena Vista, in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS. Central got out to a quick 21 – 0 lead, thanks to an offense that moved the ball very effectively and a defense that stifled a potent Beaver attack through the air. Buena Vista would add a score late in the first half in their two-minute drill to pull within 21 – 7, and used that momentum on both sides of the ball to take a 25 – 24 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Central answered back, and capped off a nine play, 74 yard drive with a Josh Osborn touchdown run, plus a two-point conversion, to make it 32 – 25. The Beavers had a chance to respond, and drove into Central territory, before Brown made his third mistake of the day. Jake Edelman’s second interception of the game helped secure the win for Central, who improves to 7 – 2 overall on the season and 5 – 1 in the Iowa Conference. Osborn eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark on the season with 173 yards on 27 carries. Sam Markham had 11 grabs to tie a season-high for 96 yards. Central concludes their regular season next Saturday at home against Dubuque.
