The Central men’s cross country team finished third overall in the NCAA Division III regional meet on Saturday in Pella, but received an at-large bid on Sunday into the national meet in Ohio this Saturday. The Dutch were ranked as high as fifth, but had to deal with injuries two a pair of key runners and ended up short of an automatic berth into the national meet by just four points to Iowa Conference foe, Loras. Eli Horton, one of the seniors that had been injured over the past month, finished second individually to lead Central’s charge, with Jamie Vander Veer coming in tenth. On a bright note, both runners qualified to the Division III national meet as individuals, which will take place this Saturday in Wilmington, Ohio.
