It stayed tight throughout, but the Central men’s basketball team was able to hang on and defeat Missouri Baptist down in St. Louis last night, 79 – 75. As the Dutch were starting to pull away late in the second half, their opponents started drilling shots from the perimeter to keep it close, but clutch free throw shooting was the difference for the Dutch. Nile Eckermann and Aaron Rosenstiel each drained 20 points, but in a variety of ways; Eckermann was 6-of-10 from three-point range, while Rosenstiel made 12-of-18 free throws. Kyle Newendorp and Colby Taylor each scored double digits for the Dutch, who improve to 2 – 0 on the season. Central’s men are off until November 29 when they head up north to Wisconsin to take on La Crosse.
