Following their nail-biting and heartbreaking ninth-round penalty kick loss to Dubuque in the Iowa Conference tournament finals last weekend, the Central women’s soccer team received praise and found themselves ranked in their region. The Dutch are ranked eighth in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America North Region Division III poll. Central went 11 – 4 – 4 overall on the year with a 5 – 1 – 1 mark in the conference, good for second place – the highest finish in program history. The Dutch were 11th in all of Division III in save percentage, 26th in shutout percentage, and 33rd in goals against average while setting school records in fewest goals allowed, most consecutive shutouts, most shutouts, and winning percentage.
