A close game went the way of Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team on Friday night, when they took down Van Meter, 38 – 37. The Eagles used a 16 – 5 second quarter to take a 23 – 15 lead into the locker room, but almost coughed up the lead in the fourth quarter, getting outscored 10 – 3 by the Bulldogs before hanging on for the win. Hannah Beltman was the leading scorer for the Eagles, reaching double digits as Pella Christian begins the season with a 1 – 0 record. They’re off for the Thanksgiving break before coming back on December 2 for another non-conference game against a strong A-D-M squad.
