It’s the job of Knoxville Community Services Officer Arlene Worrall to ensure city ordinances are being followed.

One that Worrall keeps an eye during the winter months is making sure sidewalks are clear of snow and ice. She says it really is a safety issue considering children use the sidewalks to go back and forth to school and people also use them for exercise.

Worrall says citizens have twenty-four hours after the snowfall ends to clear their sidewalks. That’s when city staff will go throughout the town to see if there are any violators and encourage them to take care of their sidewalks before they get penalized.
