Departing with a great group of seniors last year that led the team to the regional final with Indianola, Pella High volleyball came a long way in 2014. It was tough sledding in the first month-to-month-and-a-half for the Lady Dutch; the team was dealing with injuries, players missing for various reasons on tournament dates…basically, anything that could have happened, happened to Coach Catie Brand’s girls. Brand says they were able to get a chance to almost “start over” once everyone came back. Brand adds that they played Dallas Center – Grimes when they got back to full-strength, and were swept, and the team used that as a wake-up call to increase the intensity the rest of the way. Pella finished with a 19 – 20 record and played an extremely competitive match with Indianola in the regional semifinals.
