The Knoxville Senior Center has a week full of activities coming up.

Director Dawn Allspach-Kline says there’s a variety holiday activities for seniors to participate in as well as some important and informative information sessions.

Quality Case Management will be at the center meeting with people about aging services in Marion County from 9am to 10:30am on Monday, Dec. 1st. Tuesday, Dec. 2nd, at 6:00pm, Home Instead will be hosting a seminar for caregivers about managing behaviors in Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. On Thursday, Dec. 4th, veterans are welcome to come in for the Veteran’s craft program.

The Knoxville Senior Center will be decorating the center for Christmas on December 1st at 9:00 A.M. All are welcome and we will have light refreshments after decorating.

Exercise classes will be held on December 1st, December 3rd, and December 5th. at 9:00 A.M. at the center.

December 2nd at 6:00 Home Instead will be hosting a seminar for caregivers about managing behaviors in Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. Jeff Wisnieski with Home Instead is an expert in this field and issues of Alzheimer’s and dementia. This seminar will help caregivers understand how to redirect certain behaviors in their loved ones suffering from this illness. Call the center for more information.

December 3rd Massage Therapy with Susan Irving starts at 12:30 and appointments will be taken every 20 minutes for 15 minute massages. Call the center or stop in to make your appointment.

December 4th Veterans are welcome to come in for the Veteran’s craft program. The Senior Center has a variety of craft kits for Veteran’s.

December 4th at 10:00 there will be a volunteer receptionist orientation. If you are retired and wanting to stay busy this may be a volunteer opportunity for you. Some of the qualifications are: good communication and telephone skills, good organizational skills, and a team player. There are opportunities on Monday’s and Fridays from 8:00-12:30 to volunteer at the reception desk. For more information stop in on the 4th or call the center.

December 5th at 10:30 they will be having BINGO. Come enjoy spending time with others and winning!
