Iris MeyersA Pella woman charged with Arson was sentenced in connection to a September incident.

Twenty-seven year old Iris Meyers received a 10 year suspended prison sentence and fine after pleading guilty to 2nd Degree Arson and Assault on a Peace Officer. Meyers will have five years of probation and will undergo mental health evaluations and anger management courses. Marion County Attorney Ed Bull tells KNIA/KRLS news that the state feels ensuring her needs were being met from a mental health angle was most important. On September 11th, Pella Police responded to a call and say during an attempted arrest, Meyers threw broken glass at the officers and attempted to strike them with a broom handle. She then barricaded herself in the basement, and proceeded to light a fire causing damage to a wall.
