Michael Lee Liggett

A trial date has been set for a Monroe man accused in the death of a Knoxville motorcyclist.

32-year-old Michael Lee Liggett will go to trial June 22nd on charges of Homicide by Vehicle – Operating Under The Influence, a Class B Felony, Homicide by Vehicle – Reckless Driving, a Class C Felony, Operating Under The Influence Third Offense, a Class D Felony, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, a Class D Felony.

Authorities say Liggett was operating a 2003 Frontier pickup on August 3rd when he ran into motorcyclist Clayton Bennett Harsin at the intersection of Highway 14 and G-44. Harsin was pronounced dead at the scene. Liggett then allegedly fled the scene and was arrested some time later at his home.
