Pella Police patrol car

The Pella Police Department will begin to step up traffic enforcement as the one of the busiest annual travel seasons nears.

Pella police are participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s special traffic enforcement program, or sTEP, wave starting Monday through Sunday, November 30th. Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says that with a large volume of cars on most major highways, he says it’s always important to reinforce good driving habits, such wearing a seatbelt, obeying the posted speed limit, and avoiding distractions like texting or driving while intoxicated. The Iowa State Patrol will also be participating in this week’s wave.
