Our local Bluegrass Conference schools, Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas, each had their struggles on the volleyball court this year. Both the Sabers and the Saints showed improvement by the end of the season, when they faced off against one another in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament. Twin Cedars had beaten Melcher in four sets in their regular season clash, but it went the Saints’ way when it mattered as they won in five sets, clobbering the Sabers in game five, 15 – 3. Melcher-Dallas head coach, Tatum Starcevich says her girls played well at the right time. The Saints did lose in the next round to Southeast Warren, and both schools return several starters for 2015.
