Though practices officially started for the 2014-15 girls’ basketball season about three weeks ago, the “real” warm-ups actually took place over the summer. Many girls, and boys for that matter, either resume or begin their training for hoops in various camps in June and July, and even before that during some of the spring sports seasons. Pella High head coach, Jerod Garland, says you can’t undervalue the importance of those training sessions and adds that his seniors have done a good job with the younger gals on the team to help them feel a part of this squad. The Lady Dutch are 1 – 0 and they’ll resume the season with a difficult task against number-two ranked Carlisle on Tuesday.
