With the Governor’s recent change to the process on how the state will review the petitions schools submit for early start dates, many school districts are still finding out how it will impact the calendar next year.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says most schools are in the process of setting the calendar for next academic year during the month of January. He says that many school districts are unsure if they fit the new criteria for an early start date. Ebeling adds he knows that some school districts are already planning calendars around school starting on August 31st in case they don’t meet the new requirements. The Pella School Board approved their request to the state on November 24th for an early start date, which was before the Governor’s announcement.
