Off to a 5 – 2 start this season, the Pella High boys’ basketball team ended the 2014 portion of their campaign on a high note with a quality win over Pella Christian last Friday. Though the Little Dutch offense has been stellar as of late, scoring an average of 84 points per game in their last five contests, it has been their defense that has been a big factor in their latest surge. Pella has allowed just under 57 points per game on the defensive side of the ball in winning four of the last five games on the schedule. Coach Mark Core says his team still needs to do a better of denying buckets in the paint with the “bigs” in the middle. The Little Dutch allowed a season-high 74 points to the Eagles in the victory and are 1 – 2 in the conference going into the holiday break. Pella High will play Ankeny Christian Academy to resume the season on January 5.
