It didn’t take long for the Pella High boys’ basketball team to start pulling away in the first half against Pella Christian on Friday. The teams traded leads at least five times in the first quarter, and the Little Dutch had a double digit advantage at various times in the second period. Eagles’ coach, Larry Hessing, says his team has a certain mindset when they deal with difficult teams this year. Pella Christian was able to whittle down Pella High’s lead to five points at one point in the third quarter before the Little Dutch went on a big run to secure the victory. The 5 – 1 Eagles are off until January 5 when they head to Albia for a non-conference girls’-boys’ doubleheader.
