The first eight games of the Central women’s basketball team’s season have maybe been the most interesting in recent history. The Dutch have battled through injury and illness and stand with a 6 – 2 record with just three final tune-ups to go before beginning Iowa Conference play in early January. One senior has helped the team immensely thus far in a bench role. Rachel Evans has been using her defensive prowess to keep her Dutch in games while providing a spark in relief of their starters. Evans has recorded 36 steals in eight games and is on pace to break the current school record for swipes in a season, which is currently at 81. Coach Chelsea Petersen says Evans is doing what she can to help the team out. Central is off for finals before getting back to work on Friday down in St. Louis against Webster.
