The man who spent more than four decades of his life as a champion of science at Central College has passed away this week.
Professor Emeritus Don Huffman passed away on Tuesday at the age of 85. Central President Mark Putnam called Huffman a true legend at the college, and says he was a huge supporter of all of Central’s programs and instrumental in establishing science programs. Huffman taught biology at Central for 39 years, co-created the pre-health major, and helped design the original Vermeer Science Center. Huffman also authored a best-selling text “New College English” in China, which earned national honors. An informal gathering will be held on the campus of Central College at a later date.
