A long time, landmark business in downtown Pella has closed its doors.

According to their website, Ulrich’s Meat Market is no longer taking orders, and the store’s doors have been closed since December 1st. Pella Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karen Eischen has confirmed the store’s closure to KNIA/KRLS News, but says the Chamber is uncertain if the closure is temporary or permanent. A message on Ulrich Meat Market’s official website states “The meat market has closed and no orders will be taken. We thank you for your past support and orders.” There was no answer when KNIA/KRLS attempted to contact the store via telephone. Ulrich’s Meat Market moved to the current location in 1902 after selling meats from a butcher’s shop since 1884. KNIA/KRLS News will have more details as they become official.
