Coming into last Friday’s bout with Pella High, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team had put together a respectable first third of the season. The Eagles’ only loss was to Newton, and they had picked up “W’s” over Van Meter, A-D-M, PCM, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, the latter two of which were ranked at some point early in the year. However, PC scored just 39 points in their loss to the Lady Dutch to end the 2014 portion of the schedule, and Coach Kevin Van Maanen says it’s something the girls will have to build on moving forward. The Eagles have a gauntlet to run through when they get back to action in 2015. They are on the road for their first five contests against Albia, Norwalk, Earlham, Grinnell, and Dallas Center – Grimes.
