Knoxville City Council

Knoxville city staff will receive a 3 percent raise next year, according to their new union contract.

Members of the Knoxville City Council unanimously approved the three-year contract Monday during their regular city council meeting. It’s the first time city staff will have a contract of this length with the city.

The contract calls for a 3 percent raise this year and 2 and a half percent raises in 2016 and 2017. The contract will go into effect July 1st.

The city council also approved the purchase by the police department of a 2015 Chevy Tahoe for just over $33,000 from Motor Inn of Knoxville and directed staff to begin the process of creating a resolution that will update the city to the 2009 International Fire Code.
