Felony charges have been entered against a Knoxville man arrested for stealing items from a local hardware store.
25-year-old Michael Lee Carnahan was arrested for theft Thursday afternoon.
During a traffic stop, Knoxville Police discovered Carnahan and his juvenile girlfriend had over $340 worth of power tools in their possession that had been taken from True Value Hardware.
A search of their vehicle also found prescription drugs.
After Carnahan was transported to Marion County Jail, jail staff found a razor blade and a hypodermic syringe in his jacket. The syringe later tested positive for meth.
Carnahan has been charged with Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution, a Class D Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance – first offense, a Class D Felony, and 4th Degree Theft.
