The Knoxville School Board unanimously approved their 2015-2016 calendar which will include a two-hour late start on Mondays.

The vote came following a public hearing and much discussion on the matter. One parent said while the idea has merit, transportation will be an issue for working parents while another person thought the board was putting the cart before the horse.
Those parents who did approve of the late starts said they liked the consistency they bring, as opposed to the current uncertainty they have because early dismissals are on different days.
Board members said they received mostly positive feedback about the late starts and that they wouldn’t know how many people will be impacted by this change until it was implemented.
Superintendent Cassie Murra says a survey to find out the needs of parents for late Monday starts will be available during parent/teacher conferences in February.
