Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars did not begin 2015 on the right foot yesterday in their returns to action on the hardwood. The Saints’ girls fell 66 – 32 to Moravia; Megan Roush scored 11 and Jenny Petersen blocked five shots in the loss. Melcher-Dallas’ boys played their closest game of the season in a 56 – 51 falling at the hands of the Mohawks. Brock Breese scored 17 points as the Saints’ boys are now 0 – 9 and the girls’ record drops to 4 – 6. Twin Cedars was swept by Iowa Christian Academy as well on Tuesday. The Saber girls dropped a 60 – 40 decision. Shyanne Denburger contributed 16 points as the Sabers are now 2 – 7. Twin Cedars’ boys were down by over 20, and stormed back before coming up short, 64 – 56. Otis Roby had more than half of the Sabers’ points with 30. The Sabers are now 4 – 5; they’ll play Diagonal next on Friday while the Saints will get their crack at Iowa Christian Academy.
