Straight off of their conquering of Norwalk last Friday, the Pella High basketball teams continue their charge into Newton for a doubleheader tonight. The Cardinals’ girls have struggled, getting out to a 2 – 8 start at the midway point of the season, but have some confidence after holding Oskaloosa to 26 points in a win on Friday. The Lady Dutch have won five straight and are 4 – 0 in conference play. Though the Little Dutch were held to their second-lowest scoring total of the season, they are poised and ready for Newton after the defense allowed just 44 points from the Warriors. Coach Mark Core says the Cardinals do pose some different challenges for his team tonight.

Newton has had a wacky return from the holiday break; with wins over Knoxville and Grinnell, but lost to Oskaloosa by two.
