Area high schools will take to the hardwood this weekend to not only compete against their opponents, but to take on an additional battle as well… the battle against cancer.

Pleasantville High School will be wearing lavender jerseys for their annual Hoops for Hope games against East Union tonight. The games can be heard here streaming on KNIA3 beginning at 6:15pm.
Knoxville High Schools Coaches vs Cancer event will take place Saturday with the Big Red Radio on hand as both the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams battle Chariton beginning at 6:15pm. The games can be heard on AM1320 and FM95.3 KNIA. Knoxville has had the best Coaches vs Cancer event in the nation two years in a row and they expect to exceed last year’s record-breaking total of nearly $59,000 dollars.
The proceeds from both events will be presented to the American Cancer Society.
