The victim of a shooting in Chariton remains in critical condition as authorities continue to search for the man they believe shot her.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says a warrant for attempted murder has been issued for 45-year-old Robert Eugene Graham. He’s accused of shooting 33-year-old Gayle Darrah Friday morning. Darrah was found by Chariton Police in her driveway with a gunshot wound. She’s still at a local hospital in critical condition.
Investigators believe Graham is possibly driving a gray, 2014 Toyota Corolla with Illinois license plates V872014.
A report says authorities were looking for a person of interest in the Melcher-Dallas area and nearby schools were placed on exterior lockdown for about thirty minutes Friday. Melcher-Dallas Community School District officials lifted the lockdown shortly before noon after authorities reported the suspect was “out of the area.”
The investigation is being conducted by the Chariton Police Department, the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Lucas County Ambulance Service.
Authorities ask that you do not attempt to confront Graham, as he is still considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Graham or his whereabouts is urged to contact the Chariton Police Department at 641-774-5083, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, State Patrol Communications at 515-323-4360, or dial 911.
