A stingy defense was all Pella High needed to take care of Norwalk last night after three weeks off from the gym. The Lady Dutch boat-raced the Warriors in the second quarter, 24 – 6, and eventually won 66 – 41. Mackenzie Gustafson had nine of her 14 points in that second period to help lead her team to the “W.” Ciara Buchheit and Katie Vander Molen each had 13 points, as Pella is now 7 – 2 on the year and remain undefeated in the conference at 4 – 0. The Little Dutch held Norwalk to 15 first half points, and forced 6’10” senior to foul out after only scoring six, and they ran away with a 63 – 44 victory. Isaac Naaktgeboren led all scorers with 13 points, and Will Warner dumped in 11. Coach Mark Core says they had a pretty good game plan against Norwalk’s height. Pella High’s boys are also 7 – 2 on the season with a 2 – 2 mark in the league. They have two big conference road tests next week, with visits to Newton and Oskaloosa after the weekend.
