Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team pulled a come-from-behind victory on Tuesday night, defeating Norwalk in the waning seconds, 48 – 45, in a doubleheader that was live on 92.1 KRLS. The Warriors were up eight at the half and sank a three to begin the third quarter, before the Eagles stormed back to take a lead and held on late thanks to clutch free throw shooting. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says it was a tale of two different halves. Tessa Howerzyl led all scorers with 13 points, and Autumn Vos notched a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. The Eagle and Warrior boys played in a neck-and-neck game, but Norwalk pulled away late, defeating Pella Christian, 63 – 52. Baylee Steele dominated the post for Norwalk, scoring 18 points, while Levi Jungling did all he could for his Eagles, contributing 20. Pella Christian’s girls are now 6 – 2 on the season while the boys drop to 5 – 2. The latter is back in action tomorrow at home against North Polk, and the girls play at Earlham on Saturday.
