The Knoxville Basketball Squads have sole possession of first place in their respective South Central Conference races after a sweep of Albia last night in games heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The girls blew away the Lady Dees in the second half to win going away 74-48. Ashley Hawkshead led with 23 points while Meredith Cunningham had 22, and Knoxville Coach Jim Uitermarkt also got his 100th career coaching win. Knoxville is now 10-0 on the season and 7-0 in the South Central Conference. The boys played lock down defense for most of the game and defeated the Blue Demons 59-50. Coach Jeff Larson said his guys simply outplayed their opponents. Trent Davis scored 15 points to pace Knoxville. The win gives the Panthers first place in the South Central Conference and raises their record to 7-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Both Panther teams are off until next Friday when they travel to Clarke.
