The Pella Christian Eagles girls and boys were able to come away with their first doubleheader sweep since mid-December with a pair of wins at homecoming over Newton in games heard live on KNIAKRLS.com. The girls came away with a 41-37 victory in overtime in Tessa Howerzyl’s return to the hardwood, where she posted nine points in her return, only trailing Cailey Terpstra’s 12 on the team. The 2015 homecoming queen Howerzyl says it was a fun night to snap a losing streak, and it felt great to be back on the court. The boys finish a three-game homestand undefeated after their 61-58 victory against the Cardinals. David Kacmarynski finished the night with 20 points and 11 boards. Levi Jungling continued his hot shooting with 17 points and three from long-range, and Mitch Fopma was big off the bench with 10 second half points. The boys move to 9-4 on the season and the girls to 8-6, and both teams head down Highway 163 to take on Oskaloosa on Tuesday.
