The Pella School Board approved a resolution at their meeting this week that asks lawmakers to increase State Supplemental Aid by six percent this session.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says that number will allow the district to roll over its books into the next fiscal year. He says declining enrollment and ten years of state aid that has not kept up with previous annual cost increases will force the district to roll back their level of service if the state doesn’t meet the number that’s being asked for. With a projected revenue growth at roughly five percent expected this year in Iowa’s coffers, he says it’s up to the legislators to decide what they feel is the best priority for the additional funds.
