While warmer weather is often good news for outdoor enthusiasts, it can be troublesome for those who venture out on ice-covered lakes and ponds.
Marion County Conservation Officer Ken Kenyon says the recent warm weather can make it dangerous to be out on the ice for activities such as ice fishing. Kenyon urges those who plan to be on ice to exercise caution and to check on the depth before venturing out. He says to bring a friend and let someone know where you’ll be going and how long you plan to be out. The latest forecast has daytime high temperatures staying well above the freezing point through Thursday.
