The Pella Christian Eagles were stuck in neutral offensively against a pair of good DCG teams on senior night, falling 57-38 in the girls game and 68-52 in the boys in a pair of games heard live on 92.1 KRLS. On the girls side, it was a defensive battle back and forth, and the girls tied the game on a three from Howerzyl late in the third quarter to even the score at 29-all. But the Fillies closed the quarter on a 12-0 run and never looked back. Brooke Mitrisin posted eight points as the girls fall to 11-10 to end the regular season. On the boys side, they had plenty of good looks from three to keep pace with the Mustangs, but the ball wouldn’t go down as they shot just 4-for-20 from outside and 1-for-11 in the first half. Head Coach Larry Hessing says the team hasn’t experienced a game like tonight all season, and he hopes they get some of their inside game back in the postseason in case the balls don’t drop from downtown. The boys finish the season at 13-7. The girls begin postseason play tomorrow night against CMB at home, with first tip set for 7 p.m.
