Recovering from a slow second quarter, Pella High’s girls’ basketball team triumphed over Knoxville last night, 58 – 37, to win their 13th straight game. The Lady Dutch used a furious defense and sharp-shooting to take a 17 – 4 lead after the first quarter, but were held scoreless for about a five minute stretch in the second and saw their lead trimmed to three at the half. The Panthers were outscored 35 – 17 in the final 16 minutes. Katie Vander Molen led all Pella scorers with 14 points, while Meredith Cunningham led the court with 21. Pella’s now 15 – 2 on the season, the Panthers fall to 16 – 2. Knoxville is in action on Friday against Pella Christian while Pella heads to Norwalk.
