Much progress was shown by the Pella High wrestling team in their appearance in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet in Newton on Saturday. The Little Dutch had three finalists, crowned two champions, and several wrestlers beat opponents whom they lost too earlier in the season. Chase Petty placed first at 132 pounds with wins over Grinnell and Oskaloosa. Jake Speltz took the 160 crown with a pin over Grinnell’s Trenton Miller and tech-fall victory versus Zach Cook of Norwalk. Keegan Poole at the heavyweight was runner-up, dropping a close 3 – 2 decision to Bryce Shutt of Dallas Center – Grimes. Full results are below. Pella hosts Oskaloosa for a meet on Thursday.
