Multiple agencies engaged in a pursuit that started in Monroe Wednesday afternoon.
Monroe Police Chief Nick Chambers tells KNIA/KRLS News he attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Anthony Dommer of Montezuma. He says the high-speed chase took place over numerous gravel roads in Jasper and Marion Counties. The pursuit ended when Dommer attempted to flee in a field northwest of Pella, hit a ditch with the car, and attempted to flee on foot. Dommer is charged with eluding, interference with official acts, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and driving while barred. He’s being held at Jasper County Jail in Newton.
Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says it was a combined effort with the Monroe PD, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Pella PD, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
