It’s the regular season finale for the PCM girls’ basketball team tonight. Gilbert is their opponent, whom the Mustangs lost to by five in their first game back from the holiday break in early January, 44 – 39. PCM held the Tigers to just 13 first half points in that game, but allowed 20 in the third and couldn’t score in the fourth. Coach Bret Grier says he hopes his team can break out of that funk tonight, now that they are most accustomed to a certain kind of defense. Trey Lindsay’s 25 points helped his Mustang boys edge Gilbert by the slimmest of margins, 53 – 52, and tonight, both schools are putting a conference championship on the line. The Tigers own a one-game lead, and would clinch the outright title with a win. PCM would have the season series over Gilbert and tie them at the top with one final game to go on Friday if they are able to prevail tonight. Tonight’s twinbill in Monroe is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
