The Knoxville School Board heard a proposal Tuesday that would change the schedule for high school students.

The A/B Block schedule proposed by the Knoxville High School Building Leadership Team would cut student classes from 8 per day to 4 per day but classes would be spread out over two days and class time would double from 43 minutes to 87 minutes. They would also have more time to complete assignments since they won’t attend the same classes every day. The proposal is similar to a college format.
The board also approved several new high school classes that will allow students to earn college credits, including business courses, anatomy and physiology, and introduction to journalism.
